WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?

The International Association of Yoga Therapists defines yoga therapy as "the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga."

What are the teachings of Yoga? Our culture emphasizes the physical poses of Yoga, like the ones on catalog and magazine covers. But Yoga is not the attainment of perfect postures, nor does it need to be physically strenuous. It is a holistic practice that acknowledges the integrated mind-body connection. A Yoga Therapist has at least 1000 hours of training in Yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, psychology and anatomy.

Yoga Therapy differs from yoga classes in many ways. Most important is the personal and therapeutic approach to a Yoga Therapy session. To read more about these distinctions, click the link below!

"When you gain a sense of your life as a journey of discovery, you return to the rhythm with yourself. When you take the time to travel with reverence, a richer life unfolds before you. Moments of beauty begin to braid your days."
